Oh my goodness! I am so honored and excited to announce that I was nominated by two blogs (Catty Cornered Cafe and The Preppy Coxswain) for the Liebster Award which is given to honor new blogs with small followings.
Because I was nominated twice, I have decided to answer half of Catherine's questions and half of Abby's, so the odds will be courtesy of Catherine and the evens are Abby's.  So, here goes nothing!
1. What blog or blogger inspired you to start blogging?
I would have to say that honestly, the idea has really always been in my head.  I've started probably six or seven blogs in my lifetime, some more successful than others,  and honestly, I just needed a push to start one that had to do with things I really cared about. Catherine was probably the person who inspired me because, as we're friends in real life, her excitement about blogging just rubbed off on me. 2. Why did you start blogging and what do you like/dislike about it?
I started blogging mostly to exercise my writing skills.  I have always loved writing, but school writing assignments do not give me joy...except for this one.  Ever since I was little, I have loved writing, and lately, I haven't been able to exercise this hobby. So, J'adore la Vie was for me to continue to get better at what I love.
3. What would song would you consider your theme song?
I get this question all the time.  My love for music makes it almost impossible to choose a favorite, or a song that embodies me.  Right now my "theme song" is Astonishing from Little Women.  The lyrics really speak to me right now, especially because I am in the midst of trying to define myself as a young woman.  The theme of the song is a young woman finding her place in the world and pursuing her passion, which is what I hope to do as well.
4. What is your dream job?
I have this grand idea of my future, which includes me living in New York working as an editor at the New Yorker or some equally fabulous publishing agency.  Hopefully, I can set myself up well enough to achieve these dreams.
5. Lipstick or Lipgloss?
Lipstick! Hands down!
6. Silver or Gold?
Ah! How can you ask me to choose? I love them both, but my heart will always belong to silver! The simple elegance and modern sleekness of the metal will always be my favorite.
7.  What book has inspired you the most and why?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been my favorite book since fifth grade when I was first introduced to it by my father.  Since, I've read it eight times and it keeps getting better and better each time.  The novel taught me everything I know about tolerance and growing up.  It's not only my favorite book, it's also my dad's.  In fact, if he had had his way in the delivery room, my name would have been Scout.  (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed he lost that battle.)
8. What trait is your biggest strength?
My biggest strength would probably be my integrity.  I have strong beliefs and I think that it is important to stand up for what is right.  It has helped me pick my friends and allow me to make smart choices throughout my high school career.
9. What would you consider your greatest weakness and why?
I would venture to say that my greatest weakness is my lack of self motivation. I do better when given deadlines, and when I am asked to do something at my own digression, I procrastinate until the very last possible time to finish it.
10. What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear is being unprepared.  I always over pack, over prepare, and I write way too many checklists.  I do not want to wind up naive, or just plain blind to the real world.  I realize that being prepared comes with experience and that is what I plan to do as I venture through high school.
11. Where do you see yourself in fifteen years?
I want to be where ever God sees fit. I want to do what is right in His eyes with my life.  It would be awesome to be super successful, or have a beautiful family, but none of that would be worth it if God wasn't on my side.

Okay so here are my nominations!
1. Hunter at Prep on a Budget
2. Kate at Simply Kate
3. Preppy by the Sea
4.  Practically Perfect in Every Way
5. The Daria Diaries
6. Carly at Chicago Prepster
 7.Leigh at Sparkles and Solutions
8. Holly at Holly Jolly Blog
9.  Jackie at York Avenue
10. Becky at A Girl and Her Sparkles
11. Anna at A Dash of Quirky

And here are my questions for y'all!
1.  How did you pick your blog's name? What inspired it?
2. Who inspires you to be the best person that you can be?
3.  Do you keep a diary or journal? Why or why not?
4. What is your go to TV show or movie?
5.  What is your favorite blog post that you've written so far?
6.  What is your favorite book and why?
7.  Bean boots or riding boots?
8.  What do you never leave the house without?
9. What is your favorite social network and why?
10. What are you passionate about?
11.  Who is your greatest confidante? Why?

Good luck ladies and I cannot wait to see y'all's answers!
xoxo.

This week was scheduled to be Tarzan's tech week.  It was supposed to be crazy and awesome and our show was supposed to come together by tomorrow night at 7:30, and it would have, however, Mother Nature had another plan.  She decided that snow would be a great gift to the East coasters this week.  She was mistaken.  We have already had two days off this week and we just got a call saying that we were canceled tomorrow as well.  Tomorrow.  Better known as opening night.  Needless to say the cast, crew and directors are crushed.  We do have an alternate showing though (Sunday at 3:00) which will ease the sting of not being able to perform tomorrow a bit.
I do have mixed feelings on the whole missing school thing however.  Had this happened any other week I would have been thrilled.  It's just the unfortunate chance that it happened the week of this amazing show that grinds my gears. But, on a happier note, come see Tarzan! It's at James River High School on (hopefully!)Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 and on Sunday at 3:00.  This cast and show, so I've been told, is the best show to grace Theatre on the James' stage.  Hope to see y'all there!

I've been enjoying my three day weekend by borrowing some books from the library to my kindle, and my favorite so far is Paper Towns by John Green.  Recently John Green has been my favorite author because all of his books have just recently become popular and I've read a bunch of them within the last month.  Also John Green is just a fantastically cool person, and if you don't believe me just read this quote.
"The test will measure whether you are an informed, engaged, and productive citizen of the world, and it will take place in schools and bars and hospitals and dorm rooms and in places of worship. You will be tested on first dates, in job interviews, while watching football, and while scrolling through your Twitter feed. The test will judge your ability to think about things other than celebrity marriages, whether you’ll be easily persuaded by empty political rhetoric, and whether you’ll be able to place your life and your community in a broader context. The test will last your entire life, and it will be comprised of the millions of decisions that, when taken together, will make your life yours. And everything, everything, will be on it."

He's basically a genius. Plus his books are so interesting. Paper Towns is about two neighbors.  One, Margo, is very popular, and the other, Quentin, or Q is not.  After Margo goes missing Q feels responsible to find her, so he follow's her string of crazy clues.  This book is less about romance and more about finding yourself which appealed to me because it is so profoundly different than most teen novels.  I have also read Looking for Alaska, The Fault in our Stars and An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, and all of them are just as enticing and enthralling as this one.  I would highly recommend ANY of John Green's novels to anyone and everyone.

“The town was paper, but the memories were not.” ― John Green, Paper Towns

Books. I know you were all expecting a story about my preschool sweetheart, but to be honest, I don't think I have ever loved a guy yet.  And that's okay! I have plenty of time.
But back to the topic.  Ever since I was little I remember my mom reading to me and I loved being transported to fantastical cities where princesses always found a prince.  I've been a reader for as long as I can remember. In fact, my family still makes fun of me for it.  When I was about seven or eight I would read Harry Potter on the boat at the lake and refuse when I was asked to play in the water, which in turn provoked many snide comments about my nerdiness from my cousins.  However, it didn't bother me.  It never has.  Reading to me is an escape from the stress of daily life and whenever I can get my hands on a book, I read it.
I love all sorts of books.  Second grade was the year of historical fiction.  This included American Girl Doll books and books about the medieval times of witch hunts and midwives.  In third grade I went through a Nancy Drew mystery phase and I still own many of the books.  In fifth and sixth grade I loved fantasy. Dragons and witches...and vampires.  I will admit I did like Twilight at one point. ( But we don't talk about it --- it was probably the most questionable choice of my childhood) Going into seventh grade I loved romance.  Every Nicholas Sparks book and Sarah Dessen novel cluttered my shelves.  In ninth grade, I really started to get involved in the classics.  I love Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and even the Iliad.  This year I've truly been all over the place with my choice of books, but I have really been enjoying my Shakespeare.  His way with words that distract other people enthrall me in ways that modern novels cannot.
Catherine and I always chat about the books we've read and we recommend books to each other.  It's awesome to have such an close friend who you can speak frankly with about books you've both read.
Books are honestly a timeless pastime that will never go out of fashion.

“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.” ― William Styron

Just like many teenagers I spend a lot of my spare time watching Netflix.  It is, in my humble opinion, one of the best inventions that ever hit God's green Earth. Sometimes, though it takes forever to find a movie to watch! So today I've compiled a list of seven of my favorites for your entire family to enjoy!
1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a classic perfect for the entire family! Matthew Broderick's wit makes the movie hilarious and meaningful!
2. Captain America is one of my favorite super hero movies, and for your convenience it's on Netflix! This movie has just the right mix of drama, suspense, action and romance!
3. 50 First Dates is adorable.  It's a perfect romantic comedy about a girl who has memory loss and a persistent guy who refuses to be shut down.
4. The Breakfast Club is amazing.  Although it was made in the eighties, this timeless classic provides an interesting movie night!
5. Billy Elliot is one of my favorite musicals, and the movie is just as good.  Billy is a child who wants to follow his dreams of becoming a dancer in a town that thinks the only type of dancing is for girls.
6. I'm Reed Fish is a romantic comedy that surprises you every time you think you have it figured out! I won't give away anything else you'll just have to watch for yourselves.
7. Killers is a hilarious comedy that features two home run actors, Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher.  When the newly weds become under attack by super spies, secrets come out!

Hope that y'all enjoyed my suggestions!

“The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it's as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.” ― Terry Pratchett, Moving Pictures

I am a huge believer in the idea that if you don't show on your face that you messed up, the flaw will not be as noticeable.  This saying is my mantra in show choir and in musical theatre. I've never been a huge ballerina or anything, so my worst fear is messing up choreography.  I put the saying into effect when I give huge facials on stage and act like I know exactly what I am doing...even if I have no Earthly idea! With show choir auditions coming up, I will definitely be putting this into effect.  Thankfully, auditioners want you to succeed, even if they're face looks like their cat just threw up, so giving it your all is all you can do.  They understand that it is your first time learning the choreography and you didn't get much time to practice, so if you show them that you have great facials and you get most of the dance moves they will probably be more likely to choose you than a ballerina with a dead face!  You will all rock auditions! I know I personally cannot wait! See you there!

“You must be the person you have never had the courage to be. Gradually, you will discover that you are that person, but until you can see this clearly, you must pretend and invent.” ― Paulo Coelho

I look forward. That's what I do. It's a part of me. Being in the moment is something I struggle with. I love daydreaming about the future and gaining excitement about events to come! Recently I've been excited about Tarzan the musical that our school is putting on! It's in two weeks and it's going to be great! Also show choir season which is too short but still the most amazing time of my life is coming up! And then it's crew! And the great things and bonding sessions at regattas! Plus getting married and going to college which have both been daydreams since I was probably eight! Looking ahead is great and it's needed for some things but living in the now is also important. Don't loose focus on the goals you need to achieve to reach your dreams! Everyone slips sometimes but getting back on track is simple if you have a strong will!

So, obviously my blogs name is French, along with a bunch of the titles and things, and it struck me that it may be a tad confusing. I love France. The language the culture the food, and I've never even been there. I took French for four years until I decided that I know enough to get by in France should I ever go. However, the language still haunts me. I know most of the words and I love trying to read the french warning labels! I also just think French, the language, is beautiful and it is similar to Italian (another of my language loves-- French barely tops it only because I can speak French and not Italian.) in that it's a Romance language. Everything a French person or Italian person says sound beautiful and melodic, no matter what it means. So... That explains the French! Hope I cleared up that mystery for y'all!

Middle school was great for me. I loved it. I had great friends, I was smart and it was fun. After eigth grade though, the friendships I had latched on to since third grade started to deteriorate. Because I went to a different high school than my home school only one of my friends from middle school started ninth grade with me. Freshman year started out a bit rough because of this. It's not that I had no friends, I just had to adjust to making different friends than the ones I had had for years. Once I had gotten into the groove of high school life seemed like it was on fast forward all the time. I had no time to get together with middle school friends because the transition kept me so busy. So, for the greater part of two years I haven't seen my best friends from middle school, but tonight we all hung out like old times, watching movies and spilling secrets. I loved going to high school and making new friends, but it's great to know that you can always count on your old friends too.

Every year before school starts after winter break I have to do some cleaning. After break comes show choir season and Tarzan, plus hopefully getting my drivers liscense! But well see! Anyways so I have to have some sort of organization in my life before it all goes crazy! I ended up donating a bunch of clothes to Goodwill, and putting three tubs of random stuff into the attic (which in our house is just a closet because the people who built it were just like "Attics aren't neccesary." They are p.s.) I would say it was pretty successful. I made room for all of the beautiful clothes and goodies from Santa and also gained a bit of control in my life before it gets flipped upside down. Needless to say this is probably the cleanest my room will be until April. I can't wait!
